For the entire duration of the PhD course, all students will be supported by a scholarships, amounting to 18.500 € gross/year. Based on the Italian law, all fellowships are subject to detractions, calculated on the indicated amount. The detractions are variable and approximately estimated around 25% of the total amount. Therefore the monthly stipend is about 1.200 €.
Students are supported through two different types of scholarships:
University scholarships: every year the University of Milan will pay a number of scholarships.
External scholarships: these are fellowships paid through research funds or other financial support of the single group leader.
Extensions of the scholarships are foreseen (max 12 months), but must be agreed with the supervisor and approved by the faculty of SEMM.
Partial coverage for periods abroad is also foreseen. Any tuition fee is covered by SEMM.
