A B2-level English certification is required to take part into the PhD program.
In case of admission to the PhD program, applicants are required to submit the certification by the end of the 1st year of registration to the PhD program, on pain of exclusion from the PhD.
To be accepted as a valid document, the certification must certify the 4 skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) and must have been issued no more than 3 years prior to the submission (2 years for TOEFL).

Cases of exemption
The following cases exempt the applicants from providing an English certification:
they attended a Masters program entirely in English (as stated on the Diploma Supplement or any equivalent document);
they received a B2 level statement issued by the University of Milan Linguistic Centre (SLAM);
they are native English speakers.
At the time of the registration to the PhD program, the interested applicants will be required to submit a dedicated “English declaration exemption” form.
