SEMM promotes training and research within emerging sectors of biomedicine. It operates within research centres of excellence and promotes the integration of basic research and clinical practice. Science at our school sites covers virtually every aspect of modern Cell Biology and Molecular Biology, both from the basic and applied research points of view, and is supported by know-how extending from functional genomics to developmental model systems.

Center for Genetic Engineering (CEINGE) Naples |
CEINGE is devoted to scientific research in advanced biology and its applications, particularly as regards the application of biotechnologies to the field of human health. Specifically, research groups aim at elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying hereditary and acquired genetic diseases in order to devise prevention and diagnostic measures, starting from the identification of disease-causing alterations. Research is supported by genomics platforms and molecular diagnosis facility. |

European Institute of Oncology (IEO) Milan |
IEO is a comprehensive cancer center that strives to achieve the excellence in the area of cancer prevention, early diagnosis and effective treatment through the development of clinical and scientific research. The Basic-Research activities of IEO are carried out at the Department of Experimental Oncology. Research is mainly focused on molecular and biological mechanisms of transformation. Emphasis is given to generation of tumor models, applications of high-throughput screening-technologies proteomics, (epi)genomics, structural biology and development of dedicated computational tools and approaches. Research is supported by state-of-the-art technological platforms and facilities including: Genomics, Crystallography, Mass Spectrometry, Imaging, Protein Chemistry, Microarrays. |

IFOM ETS - The AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology Milan |
IFOM ETS is the Institute of Molecular Oncology of AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer Research). It is one of the top cancer research centres in Italy. The interests of IFOM include cell cycle regulation, signal transduction, cancer genetics, cancer immunology, angiogenesis. Shared facilities and resources include: automated DNA sequencing, microinjection and FACS sorting/scanning, microscopy and imaging, centralized tissue culture, antibody and recombinant protein production, zebrafish genetics, arraying platforms, proteomics. All these facilities provide state-of-the-art technology and performances. |

INGM, the National Institute of Molecular Genetics “Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi”, is a biomedical research centre aimed at Preventive Precision Medicine with a special focus on genetics and epigenetics of immunological aspects of chronic diseases (autoimmune, infectious and tumoral).
